In Breast Cancer Awareness on May 30, 2007 at 1:45 pm

Michelle at The Sweet Sheep is running for the cure with the Knitty.com team in Toronto! For all donations received, she is putting together yarn prizes and I was happy to donate a couple of my yarns to this wonderful cause to help her raise funds for her run. For more information, please click here. There are a lot of fabulous indie dyers and others donating prizes so go on over and check it out. Thanks everyone for your support!

ART WALK Sock Yarn Club

In Dyeing, Sock Yarn Club on May 28, 2007 at 2:03 pm

I’ve been tossing a lot lately about a new sock yarn club since my other one based on Project Spectrum will soon be coming to a close. I’ve read so many varying opinions on it too – from please include lots of swag to no, just focus on the yarn to yes, please, patterns to no thanks, patterns are so plentiful we don’t need them.

After reading all this input, I thought the best bet would be to focus on the yarn and the colourways and try to keep costs down. After all, it’s always about the yarn, right? Not only will this club be month-to-month club with the option of opting out anytime but it will also give you a chance to try it on for size without spending a lot of money up front. The focus with this club will be colourways and to give us some inspiration on that front, we will be including an ART WALK through some of the world’s greatest artist’s paintings. I can’t think of a better way to inspire colour other than by some of these masterpieces!

If you’re interested, we’d love to have you join – start date is August 1, 2007 with a registration deadline of July 15, 2007. If you don’t want to join at that time, no problem – join when you’re ready – registrations will remain open following the first deadline date.

We are also planning some exclusive discounts to club members only once the club gets rolling because it’s always important to get little perks when you join a club and we prefer these types rather than throwing in extras in each package.

I hope you’ll join us – I’m really excited to be choosing colourways from these masterpieces…there are so many and you’re sure to be surprised each month.

For more details, please visit either my Etsy store or my online store.

Store Update Yesterday & Sock Yarn Club?

Everything went into my Etsy store this time:
http://knitnpurlzen.etsy.com

I managed a small store update yesterday while being in between a couple of wholesale orders. Included are merino/nylon which I haven’t put in my store yet, fingering weight superwash and IN-SYNC sock yarns. I really like the matching toes/heels yarns and plan on doing a few more of them but in different yarn bases too. I always like to mix it up a little…not only with colours but also with yarn bases. You may also notice that I don’t do a lot of colourway repeats and the reason for that is I like playing with new colours way too much, however, if you see a colour you are dyeing (LOL) to have, please just email me and let me know – I’ll do my best to repeat if for you or even tweak it to a customized colour preference if that’s what you’re after!

With my Zen-A-Licious sock yarn club coming to a close in August, I’m wondering if any of my customers were interested in a new sock yarn club? I am thinking about something month-to-month with unique colourways and unique yarn bases – nothing with a lot of swag in it but a bare-bones basic sock yarn club with just the yarn! What does everyone think? Do you want something themed or just a surprise me with a colourway choice/yarn base each month? I’d sure love to hear from everyone – either by email at zenyarngarden AT yahoo DOT com or feel free to leave a comment! Although I have these ideas in my head, I’d love to hear what my customers think too and if you don’t want a sock yarn club, I’d love to hear about that too.

BFL Yarn Update Today!

In Dyeing on May 15, 2007 at 6:31 pm

In the stores today is a brand new line of yarn! We are excited to carry this yarn – it’s been spun especially for sock knitters with a tight twist that will give great stitch definition when knitting. It’s a 3-ply and 100% superwash as well. Often referred to as “poor man’s cashmere” we prefer to think of it as a great alternative. The yarn will soften and bloom with washing as well…a nice added bonus!

Here’s the colourways:

If you prefer not to watch yarn spinning (LOL), please click here to see them static.

Oh My!

In Dyeing, Socks on May 8, 2007 at 3:43 pm

Why is it that everytime I see my yarn knit up it just floors me? It’s like is that really my yarn? LOL

Want to see some of the Blue Ice knit up in the merino/bamboo/nylon yarns I sent Yarn4socks.com? Click here.

Most, if not all the yarn I sent them will knit up this way because they are all two-toned colourways.

Thanks for looking and I think I’ll go do a little happy dance! :)

On the Needles…

In Dyeing, Socks on May 8, 2007 at 8:09 am

A pair of baby socks! What to do with leftover sock yarn? Sure, make a pair of baby socks if you have an upcoming baby shower. It worked out great for me…I had at least 1.3 oz leftover from my Seduction Socks so I decided to do a pair of lacey baby socks.

Clicky photo to see them bigger. The colour sure looks like my blog header doesn’t it? Ahhhhhhhh, I did call the colourway Blue Lagoon too…LOL

Now I’m off to skein some yarn for more IN-SYNC sock yarns for Sweet Sheep! Have a great Tuesday everyone!
