It’s Been Crazy Here!

In Miscellaneous on February 28, 2006 at 9:22 pm

I’m still here! It’s just been nuts around here… not only did I start a new job with a new schedule, crazy commuting and being extra tired but I also threw out my back which meant a full week of pain and 2 days off work and I hadn’t even been there two weeks yet! Nuts I tell ya! However, I have yarn on the way and I’m planning a dyeing session really soon… think spring colours everyone!! 🙂

Superwash, Superwash, Superwash!

In Dyeing on February 11, 2006 at 4:22 pm

I sure do love, love, love how superwash dyes!! I can get such wonderful colours when I use superwash compared to handwash yarn. I’ve managed to get a few more colourways this batch too and I’m so pleased with how these colours turned out. I sure hope everyone enjoys them too. Click on the picture to see the colourway names but these are what’s in this batch:

  • Pink Passion
  • Alaskan Blue
  • Rose Garden
  • Montego Blue
  • Tuxedo Royale
  • Carnivale Blue
  • Spicy Licorice
  • Lime Cay

All are available in my Etsy Shop right now. Get them while they’re hot! I may not get to another dye session for awhile…after I settle into my new job more!

Yarnographer Anyone?!

In Dyeing on February 8, 2006 at 10:25 pm

Shamelessly took that cool word of “yarnographer” from Zib who posted this yarn photo. I surely need to learn how to take pictures of my yarn like Zib does…oh my!! Seriously, how do you take such lovely photos? Just thought I’d share a little yarn p*rn for everyone. Can you believe someone said they don’t like yarn photos?? What the heck?? Click on the photo for more details and while you’re over there, check out her patterns…click on “Garter Belt”…some seriously great ones there!

In other news, the new job is kicking my b*tt with the hours of commuting so I haven’t got to my newly dyed superwash sock yarn, however, I plan to get it into the shop this weekend – it’s all dry and hanging on my banister just waiting to be wrapped! I did more somewhat like the Montego Green pictured, but it’s a wee bit more on the bluish side so I may call it Montego Blue instead. The merino superwash yarn is so lovely to dye with! Stay tuned!

Sock Yarn Sneak Peek & A New Nephew!

In Dyeing, Miscellaneous on February 4, 2006 at 12:25 pm

I’m so excited to be launching into this venture with my sock yarns! Stay tuned…I’ll be announcing in the next few days where you can find these lovelies! I also have some Superwash on the go that should be in my Etsy shop in the next week or so. Click on the picture to see the yarn bigger and to see the colourway names.

In other news, my nephew was born on February 2nd! He weighed in at 8 lbs, 5 ounces and honestly, I can’t be more proud of my little brother. He just doesn’t seem so “little” anymore…funny how that works! He lives on the west coast and I’m on the east coast and since I’m starting a new job, I won’t get to see my nephew until June at the earliest…can’t wait! There is much knitting and crocheting to be done before that though! Now that I know it’s a boy, there’s a lot of cute baby designs I could make!

Awaiting My New Niece/Nephew…

In Knitting FOs on February 2, 2006 at 1:58 pm

As we all patiently wait for the new addition to my brother’s family, my Mom managed to finish her baby blankie!

Did I tell you she’s the one who got me started on knitting? One Christmas I’m visiting (about 2 or 3 years ago now) and she’s knitting a scarf…and she said “do you want to do one too Rox?” and I said, “sure, let’s go”…well, by the end of two days I had knit my very first garter stitch scarf…I was so proud!! I still have that scarf too and as they say “you’ve come a long way baby”….so for that, this post is a thank you to my Mom…who suggested I start and for creating my addiction….LOL! Cute blankie eh? My Mom’s such a trooper…she made a few mistakes half way through the first time, ripped it out…her and my Dad balled up all the yarn on the floor from the ripping and she did it again! Lovely!

Oh, my brother and his wife are a week overdue…baby might come today…and if they do, wow, my Mom sure cut it close…but hey, she did finish! WAY TO GO MA! And like she said “okay, the baby can come now…I finished the blanket!” 🙂

Word Cloud

In Miscellaneous on February 1, 2006 at 9:01 pm

I saw this on someone’s blog today and thought it was pretty cool – it analyzes what your most popular words are on your blog. My “stand out” words are: crochet, dyed, dyeing, knit, knitting, one, pattern, purl, sale, wip, yarn and zen. All seem pretty appropriate for a knitting blog except for “one”…hmmm, makes you wonder!! 😐 Want to try it too? Go here.
